Welcome
This Blog is to begin our discussion of the Marzano book "The Art and Science of Teaching". We hope to encourage all Princeton staff members to participate in this ongoing growth opportunity.
Our next meeting of the book study will be January 8th, 2010 @ 10:00 AM - at Denise Hamel's house. Contact Brenda Miller for the address! We will be moving on to Chapter 5 (Student Engagement) in that meeting.
Did anyone else find it interesting that the "tipping point" for the frequency of assessments (p.13) appears to be between 1 and 5 assessments in a 15 week period? I was wondering what qualified as an assessment in the Bangert-Drowns, Kulik, & Kulik (1991) study. It would be interesting to see if those teachers who chose to use weekly or bi-weekly assessments for Treasures (just as an example) see higher achievement than those who give only the unit assessment every 6 weeks.
So far I've heard from Bonnie and Lynne that they are planning to attend the January book study meeting at Denise's house. Candice is a maybe. Who else is planning to attend? Does anyone still need a copy of the book? I have 2 left! I know that several of you already purchased your own but please let me know if you need a copy.
